Managing Documents in Message Center 

Message Center contains documents and messages from Health Information Management (Medical Records). Documents include dictation for signature and coding queries.

The numbers indicate the number of new documents or orders, and the total number of orders. (3/5) would indicate 3 new items, with 5 total in that category.  

To view documents

• To view documents for review and signature, select the desired category from the Inbox Summary.
• Double-click the document to view. The document will display in the viewing pane.

To approve a document

• If a document does not require modification, click the OK button to sign, or the OK & Next button to sign and move to the next document.

To modify a document

• If a document required modifying, click the Modify button at the top of the document viewing pane.  
• The Modify Document window will open. Complete any modifications. Click the Sign  button when complete.

To refuse a document

• If a document is assigned in error, return the document to HIM.
• Mark Refuse. Select the appropriate reason. In the To: field, enter Inbox and click the Search binoculars.  Enter any comments to assist HIM.  Click the OK button, or the OK & Next button when complete.
